Hello from Vermont

Day: 115

Location: Manchester Center, Vermont

AT Mile: 1658.1

Hiker brain is pretty real so I haven’t sent out a newsletter in a while. The states are really flying by now though so here is a quick overview:

Pennsylvania: the combo of heat, bad water (few sources and sources that existed were pretty tannic) and rocks made this state less than fun

New Jersey: shockingly pretty with great views

New York: some really fun rock cliffs to scramble up and nice trail although it could be better blazed in places; there was also an awesome trail angel who hosted a ton of us for a 4th of July party

Connecticut: hot and buggy plus my pack broke in this state

Massachusetts: still hot but better water sources and slightly less buggy. There was also lots of trail magic to help keep spirits up

Vermont: sudden improvement in bugs as soon as I crossed the state line. It’s been muddy but at least the bug aren’t as bad and we’re back at elevation!
